Erie Railroad Biography - Hiram Allen

From the May 15, 1891 issue of the Hornellsville Weekly Tribune:
Mrs. I. Lanning is spending a few weeks at Cuba, where Mr. Lanning is running the pusher in place of Hiram Allen, who is rusticating a few weeks.




From the July, 1906 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine (Dunkirk, NY News):
Hiram Allen, aged 72, and for 40 years an engineer on the Erie, died on June 4 (1906) at Sheridan in the same house in which he was born. He retired from active service in 1902, owing to ill health. A widow and two daughters survive him.
