C&E (Marion) Division Engineer H.H. Skidmore, running engine 464, was awarded the Order of the Red Spot for September through November, 1915. The Order was an honor bestowed on engine crews who operated efficiently with few engine failures.
From the July, 1925 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
It is learned from the Marion Star that Henry Skidmore, the second oldest engineer on the Chicago & Erie division, died at his home in Huntington, IN, from the effects of blood poisoning, after a brief illness. He ran trains 4 and 7 between Huntington and Marion, and was among the best known and likable employes at the west end of the road.
