JESSE HUTCHINGTON (HUTCHINSON)
Entered service of the C&E as freight brakeman, Western Division, Oct. 4th, 1888.
Censured for breaking drawbar on a coal car at North Judson, Feb. 13, 1890. Suspended 5 days Sept. 2nd for attempting to throw switch ahead of engine 63 Aug. 28th at Leiters. Train was not approaching side track with sufficient caution. Reprimanded April 3 for throwing switch under caboose, derailing it with no damage.
By referring to old Chicago & Atlantic payrolls it is found that J. Hutchinson entered the service in Jan., 1888 in which month he made $43.10 and has been in the service ever since, see file 208, Supt's Office. HDM, 02/16/1895. Assigned as extra passenger brakeman on his own application, May 9th, 1900. Promoted to a regular run as passenger brakeman, June 14th, 1900. On June 23, 1905, assigned to passenger service on runs 27 and 28.

Jesse C. HUTCHINSON, 71, retired Erie trainman and a former residet of Athens community, died Monday morning at the Huntington hospital. Death followed an illness of three weeks.
Jesse C., son of Durastus W. and Caroline Hutchinson, was born near Yellow Creek Lake on September 26, 1860. He grew to manhood in Fulton County, moving to Huntington, Indiana forty years ago. He was a member of the Masonic order and Commandry.
Surviving are his wife, who was formerly Cora E. Moore, three children, Harry H. Hutchinson, Robert Lee Hutchinson, and Mrs. Mabel G. Thompson, all of Hammond; four grandchildren; four brothers, William T. [Hutchinson], of Hammond, Abner M. [Hutchinson], of Marion, Ohio, Jerry Vincent [Hutchinson], of Oak Park, Ill, and James H. Hutchinson, Rochester; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Meredith, Chicago, Ill.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Masonic Temple in
Huntington. Masons will be in charge of the services and burial will be made in the Mt. Hope cemetery at Athens, Ind. The body will lie in state at the Masonic Temple, in Huntington, from nine a.m. Wednesday until the hour of the services.
