Erie Railroad Biography - P.P. Winn



From the November 2, 1888 issue of the Hornellsville Weekly Tribune:
Commencing today and the balance of this week, the New England Tea Company will place a sum of money in every can of tea and coffee sold. Every can will contain some money. No jewelry of any description. No blanks. No matter which can you select, you will be sure to get a sum of money, besides a dollars worth of excellent tea or coffee. A partial list of customers who find valuable articles in their can will be added to this list daily: P.P. Winn, Engineer on the Erie, found a silver sugar bowl.




From the June 27, 1890 issue of the Hornellsville Weekly Tribune:
Peter Winn, engineer, now holds the ribbons over one of the finest dapple grays that walks our streets. Pete, give us a ride.




From the July 31, 1891 issue of the Hornellsville Weekly Tribune:
Peter P. Winn, engineer on train 24 due in Elmira at 6:05 p.m., conductor Patrick Ford, was approaching the city at a rate of 40 mph when a carriage with seven riders pulled in front of the engine. Four riders, including three children, were killed outright, with three others taken for medical treatment in guarded condition.
