Erie Railroad Biography - SAMUEL E. FERGUSON

From the December, 1912 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine
SAMUEL E. FERGUSON.
The most recent appointment to the position of division superintendent is that of Mr. S.E. Ferguson to the Meadville Division.

Mr. Ferguson, when he assumed the reins of office, as the successor of Superintendent Batchelder, was not a new comer; in fact, he was well seasoned, having been on the Meadville Division for seventeen years previous to his well-earned promotion. That he knows the ins and outs of his division goes without saying, and that fits him eminently to assume the leadership. With 31 years on the Erie's Mahoning and Meadville divisions, during which period he rose gradually from the very lowest position when a boy, to be a division superintendent, it is safe to say that Mr. Ferguson is a real Erie man.

One of the boys who knows Mr. Ferguson very well, also how well he has filled previous positions, ventured to predict that he will make good in the position he now fills. This person added: "He has been at Meadville so long that he fits as comfortably as an old shoe."

Following is his railroad record:
