WILLIAM ANDERSON.
The senior waiter, or, "Nestor of the Guild," employed in the Erie's dining car service, is William Anderson. Not only that, but he is believed to be the oldest employe in that department.
William annexed himself to the Erie in 1890, when the Pullman Co. operated the dining cars. He is described as "one of the best waiters that ever handled a tray." A feature of his career well worthy of note is that he has never been reprimanded for neglect of duty.
One who has watched "Bill" in action says his precision is as noticable as that of a trained soldier in battle and he is a Chesterfield in his method of serving patrons. All other waiters who have aspirations toward a long and honorable career on the Erie's dining cars should emulate the example of "Bill" and they'll never go far astray.
