Erie's New Regional Engineers
From the April, 1920 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:

WILLIAM J. FOSTER has been appointed regional engineer of the Erie's Hornell region, with headquarters at Hornell, N. Y. He was born at Honesdale, Pa., and is a graduate of the Middletown (N. Y.) Academy. With the exception of one year he has been in the employ of the Erie since 1893, serving in various capacities in the Engineering department. In 1903 he resigned, but returned in 1906, filling the position of assistant to the engineer of grade crossings. Later he was resident engineer, engineer of grade crossings and assistant engineer of construction.

J.C. PATTERSON, principal assistant engineer, has been promoted to
regional engineer, New York division, with headquarters at Jersey City. He is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State College. After being employed by the Pennsylvania, New York Central, Big Four, Northern Pacific and Chicago Great Western, he entered the Erie service in 1913 as chief draftsman, assistant valuation engineer and principal assistant engineer.
