Page 133 At a special meeting of the legal voters of school Dist No 2 in the towns of Springport and Aurelius called by the trustees & held pursuant to special notice at the school house in said district on the 26th day of August, 1868. David Baker was chosen moderator and J. Cornell was present as district clerk. Resolved that it is the opinion of this meeting that a new school house should be built for this Dis. No. 2. Votes taken ten for and seven against. Resolved that a committe of 3 be appointed by the chair to report a plan for the schoolhouse at the next meeting John B. Shank Jeramiah Fitch Jotham W. Shank Act as committes Meeting adjourned till man by (monday?) coching Aug 31, 1868. ______________________________________________ Page 134 Aug 31th 1868 Meeting called to order by the chairman the follow ing resolutions were ofered resolved that a comitte of three be appointed by the meeting to procure material and build a school house after the plan of the schoolhouse in the Myers Dist (???) with the ach bition of one foot in width and four feet in length. Resolved that the comette have power to make such alterations in regard to the hall and cloathing room as they think proper also to build a small? ble coal house. Resolved that a tax be leved by the trustees on on the taxable property of this Dist of fifteen hun dred dollars to build the school house and coal house. Building committe John B. Aurelius & Springport of which Jeremiah Fitch was Chairman and Robt. R. Westover Clerk. it was moved and carried that the site of this School House be changed to to the north west corner of lot no, 73. East. C.R (Cayuga Reservation?) Bounded & described as follows commencing at the north West corner of said lot Running south 3 chains. & 23 links thence East 1 Chain & 75 links thnece North 3 Chains & 23 links thence West 1. Chain & 76 links to the place of beginning containing 56/100 acre of land and that the Trustees be authorized to purchase the said lot for the sum of $100 dollars and sell the present site for the same amount the above motion was carried by a maj. of. four.
