David Solon Rayman
David Solon Rayman, 95, lifelong resident of Helena
died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at Helena Regional Medical Center. He leaves his
daughter, and tree sons, Julie Mendell
of Centennial, Colo., Wilkins Thompson of Jackson, Tenn., Charles Rayman of Knoxville, Tenn. and Robert Thompson of Helena;
six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
His two sisters, Shirley Rayman Meyer and Miriam Rayman Solomon, predeceased him. Rayman
was a partner in the Helena Wholesale Drygoods Co.
for most of his career and after the company was liquidated, the state of
Arkansas Employment Security Division employed him. He was a lifelong member of
Temple Beth El where, for many years, he was warden of Temple Beth El Cemetery.
Rayman was born on April 19, 1917, the son of Helena
residents Charles and Gertrude Rayman. He graduated
from Helena High School and earned a bachelor's degree in business from
Mississippi State University in 1940. In 1958, he married Ruth Thompson. They
were married 44 years prior to her death. During World War II, Rayman served in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in
Okinawa and the Philippines. He was an active member of the American legion,
Richard L. Kitchens Post 41. Graveside services will be held at Temple Beth El
Cemetery in Helena on Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. A reception will follow at the Rayman home at 104 Avalon Place. Memorials may be sent to
