Examination of the IGI shows there was a second Careless family in Gamlingay at the time: George Careless and his wife Helen with children Edina (baptised 1624), Katherine (1627), Mary (1630), Frances (1632), George (1633), Anne (1635), William (1637) and Joane (1643). It seems likely that George and Lewes were brothers. Furthermore, since both George and Lewes baptised their first-born son George, this may well be the name of their father.
