Mother: Charlotte Barrett

Harriet's biological father is unknown, but I am suspicious of a man named Henry Garner.
Henry was widowed in 1860, and in the 1861 census is shown as living in the household of his brother in Swaffham Street.
In the 1871 and 1881 censuses he is lodging with Charlotte Skipper in Swaffham Street.
The layout of the 1871 census entry may imply some special relationship between Henry and Harriet,
but he is at least a reasonable suggestion for father of all 5 illegitimate children.
Though if so, it seems strange than Henry and Charlotte did not marry.

5-generation pedigree

Siblings:

  1. Mary A Skipper [1848 - ]
  2. Emma Skipper [3 August 1852 - ]
  3. George Skipper [6 August 1854 - ]
  4. Walter Skipper [1855 - ] married 3rd qtr 1878 Freebridge Lynn RD Emma Yull
  5. Arthur Skipper [2nd qtr 1859 Freebridge Lynn RD - ]
The above 5 were children of Charlotte and her husband Robert Skipper. Details may be seen on the Skipper-Lift descendants.
Robert died 1861, and the space for the Father's Name on the birth certificates of the subsequent children are all blank,
so they were presumably illegitimate. Harriet is definately so, being recorded as filia nullim on her Marriage Certificate.
Similarly, William is recorded as filius nulius. Phoebe has no father listed on her marriage certificate, but Charlotte has Robert (late).

This looks like the right William Skipper: the birthdate is correct, as is the occupation of Farm Labourer (retired).
But his relationship with the other occupants is unknown. Ruby's maiden name was Jackson, so Phoebe is probably her mother.

There are two apparently illegitimate Harriet Skippers in Castle Acre at the time, Harriet daughter of Charlotte born 12 January 1868, and Harriet daughter of Mary born 28 August 1867 (whom I take to be the granddaughter of William Skipper: see the 1871 census entry). My reasons for believing the Harriet who married Frederic Bonas was the daughter of Charlotte are
