William is presumably the William Colson who died 9th August 1853 at Queen's Cross, Dudley,
whose age at death is given as 34. The death was registered by "Eliza Collett, Queen's Cross, Dudley",
who would be Elizabeth's sister-in-law.
The only William Co(u)lson listed in the 1851 census of Birmingham St Thomas was a lodger at 35 Granville Street (HO107/2052 f319 p13), an unmarried stamper, born in America. Granville Street runs parallel to Washington Street. This could be the right man, but there is a problem with his age: the census lists his age as 18, which cannot be reconciled either with marriage at full age 4 months later, or with death aged 34 two years later. | |
