2nd, azure three boars' heads couped argent muzzled gules, for Forbes of Pitsligo; 3rd, or a bend gules
surmounted by a fess chequy azure and argent in chief a crescent of the third, for Stuart.
CRESTS: In the centre, Trefusis: A gryphon sejant, wings elevated or, resting its dexter claw on an antique shield argent; dexter, Forbes: Issuant out of a baron's coronet a dexter hand holding a scymitar all proper; sinister, Stuart: A dexter hand grasping a sword proper. SUPPORTERS: Two greyhounds argent collared and lined gules. MOTTOES: "Tout vient de Dieu" All comes from God; over the crest of Forbes: "Nec timidé nec temeré" Neither timidly nor rashly; over that of Stuart: "Avant!" Forwards!
Robert Cotton St. John Trefusis, 18th Lord Clinton, 1787 - 1832. He was Aide-de-Camp to the Duke of Wellington in the Peninsula war, a Captain in the 16th Light Dragoons, and a Lord of the Bedchamber from 1827 until his death. |
