The origin of the name Morillion

The origin of the name Morillion

patronymic of Maurilius

The name of a Bishop of Angers in the 5th century (also of three saints, including the 11th century Maurilius of Rouen) which for a long time was used as a christian name, and has given rise to numerous patronymics: Moreil, the popular form; Morelle, Morille, more recent calques; and in the accusitive case, Moreilhon, Moreillon, Morillon (cf. the place name Saint-Morillon, Gironde).

Dauzat ["Les Noms de Famille de France", 1945]

Debrabandere ["Woordenboek van de familienamen in Belgie & Noord-Frankrijk", 1993] suggests the name derives from French maure moor, a term for open, rolling, infertile land dominated by grasses and sedges.
