English: from the Middle English given name Perkin, Parkin, a diminutive of Peter with the hypocoristic suffix -kin.

Variants: Parkyn; Perkin, Perken.

Patronymics: Parkins (also Jewish, presumably an Anglicization of one or more like-sounding Jewish names); Perkins, Purkins; Parkinson.

The form Parkin is commonest in Northumberland, Yorkshire, and the East Midlands; Parkinson is widespread, but is very much more frequent in Lancashire than elsewhere. Perkins is also widespread, especially in Kent and the Midlands.
