NOTE: Between the fall of 2000 and fall of 2001, I performed an extensive effort to perform a full inventory (with tombstone pictures) of Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur. That results of that effort are provided in the links shown below.
At the end of each entry is a indication of what section of the cemetery the stone is located in.
At the bottom of this page is a sketch I have done of where each section is located in this large cemetery.
The sketch is very rough, but hopefully provides some guidance for anyone trying to navigate their way around.
Section NF represents "Numbered Field" in the map below. It is a section in the middle of the cemetery that mainly consists
of stones with numbers (at this time I haven't photographed all the various numbered stones). I suspect at least part of
this field was where the unknowns were buried when the cemetery was originally moved from its old site when the cemetery was
formed. After that, at least some of it may have been used as a Potter's field. Also, within sections F and L are sections
dedicated to stones for civil war soldiers. Stones in those areas will be listed with the section number followed by the
letters CW.
When a picture is available, the name of the person will be 'clickable' to bring up the picture.
