South Russel Cemetery

South Russell Cemetery

This cemetery was transcribed by Lee Warriner and graciously sent to me to include on my website.   For questions/comments please contact Lee Warriner.

Notes:

1) Cemetery walked and inventory created the last week of May 2003, updated in mid-June, and completed at the end of June 2003

2) Stones listed in order found in cemetery going left to right and front to back by sections.  Started with the section left of the drive through cemetery (completed).  Then started the center section.

3) To find a particular name, use the “Find” function on your browser (Usually CTRL-F)

4) Surnames are capitalized.  In cases where two names are capitalized, there were both maiden and married names for a wife where I could see and understand this.

5) A blank line is included between stones

6) Many stones have marriage dates on them, which were included

7) Includes duplicate stones (many with the same info or only a disagreement with a date). Most of these duplications were the addition of a military plaque.

8) Anything in parenthesis are transcriber’s notes or observations or knowledge

9) All dates are in day month year format

10) Please note oddities like “My Wife” stones with no info on husband; Dual family names and other similar items

11) Some broken or fallen or buried stones, a few stones were covered with as much as 10 inches of dirt. Also some stones appear to be out of original location.

Lee was kind enough to take some pictures and send them to me and Jim Chambers sent a few as well.  Here are a few of the cemetery in general.  The others are mixed in throughout the listing.  If a picture exists for a stone, it will be shown in blue and will be “clickable” to display the picture.
