"AN OLD PIONEER GONE
At the advanced age of 86 years, Benjamin Richardson, an old pioneer of this section died at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. George B. Nedwick, 14 Lansdowne Avenue, Toronto, on Sunday. Mr. Richardson was born in Great Grimsby, England, and came to Canada in 1850. After remaining in New Brunswick four years, he came to this part of the country and commenced manufacturing brick on what was known as the Pearson farm, now owned by Mr. John Walker, north of this town. After following this business a few years he commenced farming which he followed 8 or 10 years and then came to Aurora, where he commenced his jewellery business, which he carried on until about 20 years ago, when he moved to Toronto, where he remained until his death on Sunday last. While here he was a Trustee of the old Primitive Methodist Church. He was one of the charterer members of the Rising Son Lodge 129 A. F. & A. M., and had been a mason for 56 years. He was a member of the Euclid Avenue Methodist Church, Toronto. He is survived by his widow and three sons - William of Saskatoon, John Edward of Port Arthur, and Frank of Daton, Ohio, and three daughters, Mrs. G. R. Nedwick, Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Cutting. A funeral service was conducted at Mr. Nedwick's residence in Toronto, on Monday evening, under the auspices of St. George's Lodge, 367, A. F. & A. M., and another on Tuesday by Rev. Mr. Magwood, pastor of Euclid Avenue Methodist Church. The remains were brought to the Aurora Cemetary by a Metropolitan car, where they were met by the officers and members of the Rising Son Lodge No. 129 A. F. & A. M., under whose auspices the service was conducted at the grave. A large number of our townspeople attended the funeral."
