"I have been researching my family history so that I can give my father a family tree for his 90th Birthday. Many of his Shilvock relatives came from the Halesowen area.
I thought you might be interested to know that my Great Great Grandfather's brother, William Shilvock born in 1824 (sometimes mis-spelt as Shilcock), married Maria Price of Halesowen on 30th December 1844 and the witnesses were Joseph Price (Maria's brother) and Jane Rudge. Maria's father's name was also Joseph.
There was also a marriage between another William Shilvock, christened on 25th December 1827 in Halesowen (sometimes mis-spelt as Shiloock), and Jane Price on 4th April 1858 in Halesowen. Jane was born in about 1828 - I wonder if she could have been Maria's sister.
I think the 2 William's may have been cousins but I cannot prove it yet.

From Shilvock One Name Study: "Local paper obituary dated 11.4.1942 for William King describes his arrival in Boston in 1883. He went West to drive cattle from the Mexican border to Kansas. In 1885 he worked on the construction of the Canadian Pacific railway near Revelstoke. He then hiked from Yale to Vancouver. He went to Johannesburg during the gold rush in 1894 before returning to the US in 1895. He lived in the Maritime Provinces and then Chicago before joining the Rossland gold rush.
