Daniel Strain was born c. 1780.  Several of his children migrated to Troy, New York around 1843, citing Meenan Townland, County Down, Ireland as their place of origin.  James, one of Daniel's grandsons, settled in Cook County, Illinois/Chicago, while most of the others remained in and around the Irish Settlement of Troy, New York for many generations.  Many of his descendants remain there today.
