I am not related to the Pendergrafts, but my Mother & Dad grew up inEufaula, Ok. I heard both of them talk of Preston and GarlandPendergraft. My Mother passed away last August and I have been goingthrough her pictures & scanning them to put on computer. Several of hergroup pictures include Garland. I believe he was a friend to her brother,Emmett Coppick. (My mother was Ethel Coppick who married Theodore Pullenin 1923). Most of the pictures are between 1917-23 I believe. I waslooking on this forum to see if I could find out what happened to some oftheir friends. I have Pendergrafts on 1920 census as Marion 43, Anna, 40,Nellie 19, Garland 18, Preston 15, Edna 7, Rose 4, Marion Jr. 1. Alsohave a pic of 2 little girls I believe is Rose and Edna. James A. "Doc" Pendergraft was born in Logan Co., AR in Feb., 1877. He married Julia Beshears Jan 28, 1894 in Franklin Co., AR. Jim and Julia had three children, William David (my grandfather), Charles, and Rosie. At the time of the 1900 census, they were living in Scott County, Arkansas.
Jim and Julia were divorced around 1900 or so, and according to my grandfather, Jim remarried to a woman named Nancy and they had a daughter "Josie." My grandfather wasn't sure what Nancy's last name was, but I believe he said that she was a widow. Unfortunately, this is about all I know of the family from Jim's second marriage.
Jim was killed by a man named Lee Scott on December 23, 1911, near Boothe, Arkansas. He was living in Logan township, (Scott County?)
