- Austin, John D., compiler, Stephen Hopkins of the Mayflower and His Descendants for Four Generations, 1988. On p. 11-12, "Joseph Snow ... He m. Mary ---, who d. after 30 Jan. 1722/3; otherwise unidentified. It has been suggested that she was dau. of Richard and Mary (Yates) Higgins. - Higgins, Mrs. Katharine Chapin, Richard Higgins, A Resident and Pioneer Settler at Plymouth and Eastham, Massachusetts, and at Piscataway, New Jersey, and his Descendants, 1918. In the Errata and Omissions following p. 792, "When Thomas Higgins and Samuel Oliver were appointed guardians of Richard Higgins, they were called in the record his uncles. This record does not prove the marriage of Mary Higgins to Samuel Oliver, because Richard's mother was Elizabeth Oliver, sister of Samuel. It is therefore very doubtful that Mary Higgins married Samuel Oliver, as stated in the text. If she was not Mary Looker nor Mary Oliver, she may have remained 'spinster'. It has been said that she married Joseph Snow, son of Nicholas of Eastham. Joseph Snow appears to have been in Piscataway, 1672-79, and then to have returned to Eastham, temporarily if not permanently. No indication of his marriage to Mary Higgins has been found."
