John Woodin resided in Hampton NH, Haverhill & Salisbury MA, Dover & Portsmouth NH, Newbury, Rowley, & Beverly MA, and South Carolina; married 3 times, not to be confused with John Woodam of Ipswich who died 29 May 1678 and his wife Mary; also not to be confused with John Wooton of Portsmouth who returned to England by 1659.

He was of Ip. as early as 1648; bought house and land there in 1649; d. May 29, 1678[Sv]; inv. est. July 1, 1678; wid. Mary d. Feb. 12, 1682[Sv]. The Mary Wooddam who m. March 26, 1663[Hv], (2) John Ayer may have been a dau. [Possibly she may have been of the Woodin family.] 1. John Woodin [Wooden, Wooding, or Woden], of Portsmouth per. in 1635[Sv]; of Hampton 1643[Sv] and '55, bought house lot in Hm. in 1648, which he sold in 1657 [D Hm]; of Haverhill 1646[Sv] and 1652-3; of Salisbury 1656-'59; had grant of 150 acres of land from the government of Mass. in 1667 on his petition stating that he had been 32 yrs. an inhabitant of the land, and had many chil.; prob. of Newbury 1669.
