Livingstone Relations: Other Livingstone Families of Kilbride

A tradition in several branches of this family connects them with David Livingstone.  It is said that David's father visited some of these cousins and shared letters from David.  Archibald Livingstone and Flora Livingstone (m. 1833) were reputedly first cousins of each other, which would imply that their fathers Neil and John were brothers.  Since David's father and grandfather were both named Neil, any connection between this family and David's family would have to be with David's unknown great-grandfather, or earlier.  Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

• John Livingston inscribed a copy of the book The Psalms of David, published in 1793 in Edinburgh, as follows: "Presented to Mary Livingston by her Grandfather John Livingston, Ariogan, May 10, 1850".  A later inscription says "Presented to Flora L Jamieson, December 25th 1890, Gloucester City N J".  The book remains in the possession of his descendants.  [This record helps confirm the descendants of this family, and places John in Ariogan, within "walking distance" of both Soroba and Lerags.]
