11.  David SHUFFLEBARGER;[1] born November 21, 1803 in Montgomery County, VA;[2],[3] married Mary Carper, daughter of John Carper Sr. and Eve ?, January 26, 1826 in Montgomery County, VA;[4] died March 5, 1885 at age 81.[5]

     He was a farmer between 1850 and 1860. He lived between 1850 and 1860 in Montgomery Co., VA.[6],[7],[8]

 

     Mary "Polly" CARPER[9] She was born on February 27, 1803 in Montgomery Co., VA.[10],[11] She died of pneumonia on May 1, 1862 in Montgomery Co., VA, at age 59.[12]

     Children of David Shufflebarger and Mary Carper were as follows:

+          57.          i.     Paris, born October 29, 1826 in Montgomery Co., VA; married Magdaline Taylor.

            58.          ii.     Floyd; born April 24, 1828 in VA;[13],[14] married Mary Cook December 15, 1869 in Johnson Co., IN;[15] died June 26, 1902 in Johnson Co., IN, at age 74.[16]

     He was a farmer living with father, David Shufflebarger in 1850 in Montgomery Co., VA.[17] He lived in 1860 in Bedford Co., VA.[18],[19]

            59.        iii.     Minerva; born May 17, 1830 in Pulaski Co., VA;[20],[21],[22] married Albert Nicholas Duffy June 29, 1854 in Montgomery Co., VA;[23] died March 26, 1907 at age 76.[24]

     She lived between 1850 and 1860 in Montgomery Co., VA with father, David Shufflebarger.[25],[26]

            60.         iv.     Manarcus; born October 6, 1831 in VA;[27],[28] married James K. Early February 20, 1851 in Montgomery Co., VA.[29]

            61.         v.     Manarah; born May 17, 1833 in Montgomery Co., VA;[30] married M. B. Franklin November 22, 1877 in Montgomery Co., VA;died March 26, 1907 at age 73. [31]

            62.         vi.     Miranda; born July 29, 1835 in Montgomery Co., VA;[32],[33] married Redmond H. Eakin January 24, 1868 in Montgomery Co., VA.[34]

     She lived in 1860 in Montgomery Co., VA with father, David Shufflebarger.[35]

            63.       vii.     Mahuldah; born March 18, 1837 in Montgomery Co., VA;[36],[37],[38] married Pembroke Charlton November 19, 1867 in Montgomery Co., VA;[39] died July 6, 1903 at age 66.[40],[41]

     She lived in 1860 in Montgomery Co., VA with father, David Shufflebarger.[42]

            64.       viii.     Mandolah; born September 16, 1839 in Pulaski Co., VA;[43],[44], married John Edward McDonald January 18, 1866 in Montgomery Co., VA.[45]

     She lived in 1860 in Montgomery Co., VA with father, David Shufflebarger.[46]

            65.         ix.     Mazarine; born June 11, 1840 in VA;[47] married Alwilda Virginia Jeter January 16, 1868 in Montgomery Co., VA;[48] died March 11, 1898 in Cambria, Montgomery Co., VA, at age 57, and buried in Christiansburg.[49],[50]

     He was a Wagoner in 1860.[51],[52] He lived in 1860 in Montgomery Co., VA with father, David Shufflebarger.[53] He began military service on April 1, 1861.  A Civil War Soldier, he enlisted 4th VA INF, Co. G. (Stonewall Jackson's Brigade) Born 6/11/61. Wagoner.

         Wounded severely in hand on Jul.3,1863 at Gettysburg.  Returned to duty on 1/6/64.

          Captured on 5/12/64 at Spottsylvania C.H. Paroled at Elmira Prison, NY, on 7/11/65.

          5'9; hazel eyes, dark hair, dark complexion. Died March 11, 1898.  Buried in Christiansburg.[54]

            66.         x.     Monroe; born August 30, 1843 in Montgomery Co., VA;[55] married Elizabeth Birchfield circa 1868; died January 14, 1895 at age 51.[56]

     He was a farmer living with father, David Shufflebarger in 1860 in Montgomery Co., VA.[57] He began military service on October 13, 1862.  A Civil War Soldier, he enlisted 4th VA INF, Co. G. (Stonewall Jackson's Brigade) 

          Wounded "accidentally" on July 3, 1863 at Gettysburg. Returned to duty 1/6/64.             

           Captured at Spottsylvania C.H. on May 12, 1864. Paroled on 7/11/65 from Elmira Prison (POW Camp), NY.

          5'9; hazel eyes, dark hair, fair complexion.[58]

            67.         xi.     Malachi; born December 6, 1846 in Montgomery Co., VA;[59],[60] married Sue M. Franklin August 20, 1872 in Montgomery Co., VA.[61]
