He is in the land records in Montgomery Co., VA, "1797, WILLIAM GODBEY, from Simon Chafin and Agatha, his wife, 100 acres Clabboard Creek, branch of New".[8] William Godbey was listed as juror in the settlement of a road on April 23, 1802 in Montgomery Co., VA.[9] He took part in the John Grayson appraisal on December 4, 1802 in Montgomery Co., VA.[10] He was a juror in the John Grayson writ on July 7, 1803 in Montgomery Co., VA.[11] Wm Godbey (+=his mark) listed in John Grayson inventory on July 27, 1803 in Montgomery Co., VA.[12]
