24.  William V. GODBY (905);[1],[2] born 1807 in Montgomery Co., VA;[3] married Rhoda Miller (904) October 4, 1825 in Montgomery Co., VA;[4],[5] died June 3, 1894 in Raleigh Co., WV.

     He was a farmer in 1853 in Pulaski Co., VA.[6]

     Rhoda MILLER (904)[7] was born circa 1807.[8]

     Children of William V. Godby (905) and Rhoda Miller (904) were as follows:

         43.        i.    Anderson Francis (986); born July 20, 1825.[9]

         44.        ii.    Nancy S. (987); born August 28, 1828.[10]

         45.      iii.    Jasper (988); born March 30, 1831.[11]

         46.       iv.    Clementine J. (989); born June 18, 1833.[12]

         47.       v.    John N. (990); born March 24, 1836.[13]

         48.       vi.    Preston M. (991); born October 13, 1839.[14]

         49.     vii.    Gordon Huston (992);[15] born January 20, 1841 in Newbern, Pulaski Co., VA;[16],[17] died March 19, 1908 at age 67.[18]

A Civil War veteran, Gordon enlisted at age 20 in the 36th VA INF, Co. C. (from Chapmanville),  on June 3, 1861 in Raleigh Co. WVA.  He was described as height: 5' 9", grey eyes and light hair in 1861. Gordon was absent sick then present until transferred to the 26th Batt'n. in April 1864.  His parole was given on May 15, 1865 at Charleston, WVA.  He was mistakenly listed on Post War Record as being with the 23rd Batt'n VA INF.  Gordon was a priest with the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints after the Civil War.  He died March 19, 1908 and was buried in Mt. Jackson.[19]

         50.     viii.    James H. (993);[20] born April 20, 1843.[21],[22]

     He began military service at age 19 on June 3, 1861 in Raleigh Co., WVA.  A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in the 36th VA INF, Co. C.  Present until transferred to 17th VA CAV in Jan. 1864.[23]

         51.       ix.    Cynthia Ann (994);[24] born August 28, 1845.[25]

         52.       x.    Andrew M. (995);[26] born May 1, 1848.[27]

         53.       xi.    Alexander C. (996);[28] born June 24, 1853.[29]

         54.     xii.    Miller (997);[30] born circa 1855.[31]

 

 

25.  Archibald Whitt GODBY (903);[32],[33],[34] born August 29, 1811 in Montgomery Co., VA;[35],[36] married Susanna Matilda Taylor (901) November 7, 1833 in Montgomery Co., VA;[37],[38] died March 5, 1895 in Raleigh Co., WV, in age 83.[39]

     He lived between 1850 and 1854 in Pulaski Co., VA.[40], [41]

 

     Susanna Matilda TAYLOR (901)[42] was born in 1813 in VA.[43]

     Children of Archibald Whitt Godby (903) and Susanna Matilda Taylor (901) were as follows:

26.  Susannah GODBY (897);[54] born 1813 in VA;[55] married Andrew Biggs (900) March 15, 1831 in Montgomery Co., VA;[56] died 1892.[57]

     Andrew BIGGS (900)[58] was born circa 1813.
