Arthur Amacher


Arthur R. Amacher, born in 1887, was the third of John and Carrie's children.

Arthur Amacher On June 23, 1910, Arthur married Maria J. Zajacz, who was 19 years old at the time. Maria was the daughter of Joannes Zajacz (1853-1928) and Anna Szabocsin (1857-1958). Arthur and Maria were divorced on June 15, 1920.

On June 22, 1920, Arthur married Catherine Marie Binkowski, who was born in Mt. Pleasant Pennsylvania in 1896. Arthur was president of Auto Truck Service Co. 1890 E. 71st. Street, Cleveland according to the 1920 Cleveland City Directory. Tom Amacher remembers that Art delivered truckloads of gravel for their house on Omega Road. Bob Huebner remembers that it was fun to get together with Uncle Art because Art always had gas coupons.

Art had three children, Gertrude born June 15, 1922, Arthur Jr., sometimes known as Sonny, born on September 19, 1923, and Lawrence E. Amacher born on September 27, 1926.

Gertrude had two daughters, by her husband Myron J. Wierzbicki who died in 1995. Gertrude's second husband, Harold Glenn Guy was born in 1925.

Sonny was married to Peggie H. Frey. His second wife was named Shirley. Sonny's three children were Jeffery Amacher, Vanesssa Amacher and Margaret Amacher. Sonny died on March 4, 1996 in Pittsburgh.

Lawrence E. Amacher married Evelyn Scholle. Their daughter was Thea. Lawrence worked as a policeman. He returned home after a high-speed chase and died of a massive heart attack in his sleep in 1963.
