Reunion Notes and Photos

These were the attendees at the August 1991 Taylor Family Reunion held at the Congregational Baptist Church on Center Street in Franklin. Franklin, as is seen on other pages herein, was the hometown of several generations of Taylors and allied families. Notice that there was a large contingent of youngsters able to come in 1991. A good time was had, although we did have rain that day. Several of us were led by one of Richard Taylor's children down to the Congregational Cemetery (see Cemetery Page) to view some of our ancestor's gravesites in the oldest cemetery in Franklin. All of the attendees were direct descendants or relatives of Cornelius (1875-1960) and Sarah (Anderson) (1881-1950) Taylor.

All of the 1991 pictures were scanned from photos, which limits their quality.

Here are the attending descendants of Everett Taylor (1904-1965) at the 1991 Taylor Reunion.

Here are two pictures of one of the Clans of 1991 attendees, the descendants of Margaret Taylor Rose (1910-1968).

The members of this clan are the descendants of Richard Taylor (1917-1997) that were able to attend the 1991 Reunion.

This clan of Taylors had the largest number of the great grandchildren (nine) of Cornelius and Sarah attending the 1991 Taylor Reunion.

Unsucessful attempts were made in the interval between the 1991 Reunion and the present time, to have a repeat gathering. Finally in 2005, many of the same folks (look for them and appearance changes) and some additional Taylor descendants, were able to get together in the same location for another Taylor Reunion. The Church has undergone a name change in the interim to the Community Bible Church, but was the same familiar site to us arriving in July of 2005. The day was hot and muggy in contrast to 1991, and the conditions may have led to a shorter meeting than was anticipated, but the organization allowed for more sharing of pictures and memories than may have occured in 1991. So, following are some of the images from the 2005 Taylor Family Reunion. In this digital era, it is likely that you will find the quality of the images improved from those of 1991.

This is one view of the memorabilia corner, where many old photographs were seen and shared, where there was a PowerPoint presentation of photos, where a series of slides were running for attendees' viewing, and where genealogical information was available and discussed.
There were lovely fresh flowers on our tables to add a splash of color to our day.
Another view of the memorabilia corner showing many of the photos we looked at and enjoyed.

These attendees could not possibly have been with us in 1991! We hope they had fun in 2005, and can return to a future Taylor Reunion.
And, these Taylor descendants were unable to come in 1991, but were happy to be able to attend in 2005.
Some more smiling Taylor cousins at the 2005 event.

There were a number of prepared presentations and spontaneous recallings of our ancestors, and how they have affected the lives of their descendants. Here the Mistress of Ceremonies talks to the assemblage.
And here one of the cousins gives a genealogical and local history outline.
And here, another cousin addresses the Taylors.
Here a Taylor cousin shares her memories - - -

Here the food is being prepared for our meal.
And, here - -

Attendees have seated themselves and here - - -

We were treated to a special Surprise Dessert, here being brought into the hall.
Here is the dessert before the descendants descended upon it.
Here cousins are serving themselves from both ends of the ice cream trough.
You will notice these Taylor cousins made short work of the long dessert.
And, here we enjoy our portion of the surprise.

The clans of the descendants of Cornelius and Sarah or at least those representatives who were able to attend, are seen after a photo of the remaining children of Cornelius and Sarah.

These siblings were both able to attend in 1991 as well. See how much you think they have changed. They were our honored guests both then and now. She travelled many miles to be able to come.
These folks are the attendees from the clan of Everett (1904-1965) and Christina (Hunt) (1906-1978) Taylor. All travelled from southern states, and we were thrilled to have them with us.
We were so happy to have the clan of Irving (1907-1985) and Patricia (McGann) (1907-1968) represented for this reunion, and loved the many photos and memories shared.
The descendants of Margaret (Taylor) (1910-1968) and Everitte Rose (1907-1974) are seen in this and the next photo.
More of the Taylor/Rose Clan.
These attendees represent another Clan.
And finally, for the 2005 Taylor Family Reunion, here is the last Clan.
