Rspace

Here is the file-folder organization of an extended family web site, intended for sharing photographs.  It is not fancy - in fact, it needs a lot of dressing up.  But it does give us a place to put pictures and tell stories.

There is a main folder named "rspace," inside which are family-name folders - some folders have items already inside them and others are still empty.  There are no pages yet, for instance, for the Corrado family name.

What does the structure of that site look like?  Let's just take a look.  Structure of rspace site.  Then we'll return to this page.

The logical connections between linked subject pages and the subject file folders is clear in this case.  It will not always be this clear.  Pages may be linked to other pages regardless of whether they are in the same folders or not.

Use the Folders button to see the current file folder organization of your web site.   If you have images as part of your web site, you might want to put them all inside the Images folder.  As you drag them into the new folder, FrontPage renames them to include the folder name - maintaining their links to your pages.

As you create your web site pages, consider both the page-relationship structure you want to have and the file-folder organization you need for logical storage.

Now that you've looked solidly at the structure and organization needs of your web site, click on the link to return to our home page and the next section on Design.
