Dr. Sacket began the practice of his profession as a physician and surgeon in the Rvolutionary Army. In 1781 he was at Uniontown, Fayette County, Penn., and seven years later settled permanently at Morgantown, in same county. He was a farmer as well as a physician, and the farm he then lived on was at a recent date in the possession of one of his descendants.

Weygant uses the spelling "Sacket" for Dr. Samuel. However, letters in the Yuma Territorial Prison Museum, Yuma, AZ. show that he signed his name as "Sackett."

In "The Sacketts of America"; page 160, Weygant says that Alexander Sackett,
M. D. died in the year 1814.

Information sent to me by Laurie Young has the following:

"A Butler Co. Will received August 2, 1813 pg. 75;
Alexander Sackett, will July 2, 1813. Brother Samuel, sisters Mary, Ann,
Lydia, and Sarah Sackett. Executor Samuel Blair. Witnesses; Rhoda
Stanburrough, John Porter, John D. Keeth. [From Ohio Records and Pioneer
Families; Volume XI No. IV Pg. 207]"
===================================================
The July 2, 1813 date of the will and the August 2, 1813 date for it being presented for probate would place his death between those two dates. The statement by Jordan, below also indicates 1813 as the year of his death. Alexander was born 10 Jan 1786 and if his age at death was 27 yrs., then he died in 1813. - [Thurmon King]
===================================================
In Jordan's "Genealogical and Presonal History of Fayette County
Pennsylvania", Vol. II pg. 343, it says: "Alexander, born in Pennsylvania,
studied medicine with his father and served as surgeion in the war of 1812.
He was attached to General Harrison's command and died of fever at Fort
Meigs, aged twenty-seven years."

1760 Dec 26 - Aaron Sackett, 3/7 child of Reuben and Mercy Finney Sacket was born in East Greenwich (now Hebron), Conneticut. (Note: The Sacketts of America, by Charles H. Weygant, 1907.)

c.1770 - Dorcas Clark mother of Thomas Sackett born in Maryland. (Note: Dorcas died 10 Apr 1857 at 87 years. Will mentions 5 children sons Thomas (eldest), John (deceased), Samuel and daughters Phebe Mosteller and Sarah Watt. -SHD)

[Biographical Sketch]  [Aaron Sackett Documents]

Aaron married Dorcus Clark-664sp in 1785 in Fayette Co., PA.. Dorcus was born in 1770 in MD.. She died on 10 Apr 1857 in Sangamon Co., IL.
For years researchers have discussed the possibilities as to the maiden name of Dorcas. Thus far only one bit of information has surfaced which seems to establish her as a CLARK.

In Probate File #1227 in Sangamon Co., IL. for the estate of Barzilla Clark, Jr. [d 1 Sep 1854] there is an item: "John N Campbell's ac against Barzilla Clark's estate in his last sickness; 1st paid Sally Watts for keeping her cousin B. Clark; $30.00."

Sarah "Sally" Watts was a daughter of Aaron and Dorcas Sackett. For Sally Watts to be a cousin to Barzilla Clark, Jr. would indicate that Sally's mother and Barzilla, Jr.'s father Barzilla Clark were brother and sister. For this reason, it is assumed that the surname of Dorcas was CLARK.

Cyrus Sackett Married Nancy Ann Stapleton in Bourbon Co. KY January 10, 1792 (Source..Marriage Record, State of KY, County of Bourbon)

Nancy is buried in the Primitive Baptist Cemetery, DD 9/18/1855 (Source..Greene Co. Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions Vol. 4, Compiled by The Greene CO Chapter of the Ohio Geneal. Society, 1985, and Cemetery Tombstone Inscriptions and Photographs of Selected Greene County, Ohio Pioneers from the 1700s and 1800s, Compiled by Arthur R. Kilner, Xenia OH 1983, her actual stone is photographed) Could it be that Primitive Baptist Cemetery and Carmine Burying grounds are the same thing. I have a statement from Hazel Deckens who was the granddaughter of Mercy Sackett, she states "Cyrus Sackett was an earnest and devoted Christian, he joined the Regular (Old Style) Baptist Church and afterwards went to what was known as Carmine's Church, which stood on the site of the old burial ground one mile south of Bell Brook. Both Cyrus and Nancy are buried in the Carmine Burying grounds."

The 1850 US Census for Greene Co. Ohio lists her birthplace as MD, I can not find why I have in my records that the town was Baltimore. So, does anyone have other stuff I do not.???

Nancy and Cyrus' daughter Aner Sackett Pogue is buried in Fletcher which is just down the road from Bell Brook where Nancy and Cyrus are buried. Sorry I mixed mother and daughter up abit. Happy 4th you all, Nora

1430 M v Reuben Sackett-12593 was born on 17 May 1798 in Bourbon Co. KY.. He died before Oct 1799 in Bourbon Co. KY..

In an account of the move of Cyrus and Nancy to Ohio in 1799 it is said that they moved with three children. If Reuben had been alive he would have made it four children. Therefore, it appears that he died in infancy. - T. King

641. Mercy Lucinda Sackett-667 (Reuben Sackett , Jonathan Sacket , William Sacket , John , Simon , Thomas , Thomas ) was born on 23 Jan 1769 in Warren, Litchfield Co.,CT. She died after 1814.

Lucinda SACKETT married a Mr. FULLER, according to her mother's (Mercy Finney Sackett) will of 16 Oct 1804, Sharon, Litchfield Co., Connecticut.

According to a letter written by Lucinda's brother Alexander to their brother Dr. Samuel Sackett 11 August 1814:

"... Lusindas health has not been well this summer as usual nor
Brother Fullars. they have two daughters married of which one lives at
Sharon. the other lives near the Susquhannah on Doc Roses purchace in
the Town of Rush, She married a man by the name of William Barton ---
the rest of their children are not married and live at home (viz) two girls then
two boys. one boys name Cyrus the other William..."  [Sackett Letter #14]

According to the estate settlement of Reuben SACKETT on 11 Feb 1804, Warren, Litchfield Co., CT, the husband of Lucinda Sackett was John FULLER and her name was M. Lucinda Fuller (Mercy Lucinda). [Reuben Sackett's Estate Papers]

Mercy married John Fuller son of Benjamin Fuller Jr. and Parthena Hubbard about 1785. John was born on 23 Jan 1769 in Sharon,Litchfield Co.,CT. He died after 1814.
John Fuller and M. Lucinda Fuller signed the Distribution papers for the estate of Lucinda's father, Reuben Sackett. [Reuben Sackett's Estate Papers]
John and Mercy had the following children:

  1435 F i Sally Fuller was born on 26 Nov 1786 in Sharon,Litchfield Co.,CT. She died after 1839 in Resided,Owego,Tioga Co.,New York.

Notes by Cecilie Gaziano:
Sally NOTEWARE (no husband's name given) was among 12 sellers of 23 acres of land in Warren, Litchfield Co., CT, on 14 March 1839, to Ebenezer TANNER. The land was bounded "Southerly on highway & Westerly by a Mr. KELLOGG's land; Northerly by Homer SACKETT's land & Easterly by Ebenezer Tanner's land the grantee in this deed." Vol. 9, p. 405. Bennet BATES acted as attorney on behalf of the parties, which included his sisters: Lucinda & husband Joseph PRINCE of Windham, Bradford Co., PA; Betsey & husband Daniel FAIRCHILD of Owego, Tioga Co., NY; and Cynthia & husband Ezra Daniel SMITH of Fulton Co., IL. Also named were Polly [FULLER] & husband Nathaniel BENEDICT of Salisbury, Litchfield Co., CT; Almira [FULLER] & husband William Barton of Ghent, Susquehanna Co., PA; Parthena MARSH also of Ghent, Susquehanna Co., PA; and Sally NOTEWARE of Owego, Tioga Co., NY. [Parthena and Sally may also have been FULLERs.]

It is believed that the above-named Sally was a FULLER, who married John Noteware. Jacob Noteware and Daniel Noteware are also possible candidates as husband of Sally, but the available evidence to date rules them out.

1820 census of Owego, Broome Co., NY, p. 32, shows households of all three men, who were brothers. John Noteware lived next door to Daniel & Betsey Fairchild.

1830 census of Owego, Tioga Co., NY, p. 288, shows Daniel and Jacob, and p. 289 shows John, next door to Daniel & Betsey Fairchild.

1840 census of Owego, Tioga Co., NY, shows only the Daniel Notewire [sic] household, not John's or Jacob's. Daniel Fairchild and his family were still here at this time.

According to a web page of Steve Brewer, [email protected], on Worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com, accessed 22 Apr 2002, Capt. John Fuller and Mercy Lucinda (he did not know her surname) had a daughter named Salley, born 26 Nov 1786 in Sharon, Litchfield Co., CT.

Sally married John Noteware about 1810/1815.

Notes by Cecilie Gaziano:
Information that Almira was born 12 Aug 1788 came from James Barton, [email protected], on GenForum.genealogy.com/barton/messages/3541.html on 27 March 2002. (Another web page gave the date of 17 Aug 1788: Steve Brewer, [email protected], on worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com, accessed 22 Apr 2002.

James Barton stated that William BARTON and Almira B. FULLER spent their early married life in Litchfield, CT, but in 1812 moved to Apolacon Township, Susquehanna County, PA. William's birthplace, Dutchess Co., NY, adjoins Litchfield Co., CT.

Almira and William Barton (of Ghent, Susquehanna Co., PA) were among 12 sellers of 23 acres of land in Warren, Litchfield Co., CT, on 14 March 1839, to Ebenezer TANNER. The land was bounded "Southerly on highway & Westerly by a Mr. KELLOGG's land; Northerly by Homer SACKETT's land & Easterly by Ebenezer Tanner's land the grantee in this deed." Vol. 9, p. 405. [Parthena and Sally may also have been FULLERs.]

Almira FULLER who married William BARTON was the daughter of Lucinda Sackett and Mr. Fuller, according to a letter written by Lucinda's brother Alexander to their brother Dr. Samuel Sackett 11 August 1814: "... Lusindas health has not been well this summer as usual nor Brother Fullars.  they have two daughters married of which one lives at Sharon.  the other lives near the Susquhannah on Doc Roses purchace in the Town of Rush,  She married a man by the name of William Barton ..." - [Sackett Letter#14]

Almira married William Barton about 1811 in Litchfiled Co., CT.. William was born in Dutchess Co., NY..
1437 F iii Parthena Fuller was born in Mar 1790 in Sharon,Litchfield Co.,CT. She died after 1839 in Resided, Ghent & Choconut Twp., Susquehanna Co., PA..

According to a web page of Steve Brewer, [email protected], on worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com, accessed 22 Apr 2002, Capt. John Fuller and Mercy Lucinda (he did not know her surname) had a daughter named Parthena, born March 1790 in Sharon, Litchfield Co., CT.

Virgil Cemetery, Lee Township, Fulton Co., IL, records state: SMITH, Cynthia - w/o E. D. - d. Aug 28, 1842 - aged 42 y. (p. 54, printed records)

Cynthia married Ezra Daniel Smith on 2/21 Sep 1824 in Warren, Litchfield Co.,CT.
1447 F vii Violitta Bates was born about 1807 in Litchfield Co., CT.. She was christened in Nov 1808 in Kent, Litchfield Co.,CT.. She died before 1839.

She appears to have died before the sisters sold land in 1839 as her name is not listed on the deed (Warren 9:405). It is possible a different name was used for her on this deed.

It is assumed she is a daughter of John and "Verstilly" or "Violitty" as Verstilly died 9 May 1807 and Violet was baptized Nov. 1808. However, Violitta could be a daughter of the second wife, because her name appears to be same as that of John's first wife. In the naming patterns of that time; the first daughter of a 2nd marriage was often named after the 1st wife.
