From the intersection at California and Grand in Gainesville, it's 5 1/2 miles south of town.  Take FM 2071 to the cemetery which is east of the road and located on the property of Melvin Schumacher.  James R. Nall, his wife and her parents, William and Elizabeth Sellars moved to Cooke County, Texas in 1884 and James built a 9-room 2 story home on the old Denton road where they lived until their deaths.  The property was purchased from the Nall family at a later date by Mr. Schumacher's father.  Surveyed 9 July 2003.  My thanks to Ms. Elaine Bay for added notes 2008.

Historical note: One of the earliest schools was located at the home of Robert Wheelock, who lived some four miles southeast of Gainesville.  He was designated the first chief justice, or county judge, of Cooke County in 1848.   In his memoirs, W. R. Strong also credited Mr. Wheelock as the man who picked out the site of Gainesville, the county seat of Cooke County, on August 15, 1850.
