NOTICE:
Irene (Dixon) Bamford's diaries have been delivered to the archives at Queen's University in Kingston.A small (12 or so) collection of glass negatives is also there, and may be accessed. The negatives are of people possibly mentioned in the diaries; Dixon and Bamford families. Many thanks to Nancy Chamberlain for submitting them to the universary!

Grama Irene Bamford

"This is the only known picture of her. In her diaries she mentions this picture being taken. As you can see she was unwilling but they talked her info it. She complained that she had on an old housedress and looked aweful."

About Irene (Grama) Bamford;
Born Irene Dixon 22 Nov 1833 in Orleans Township, Jefferson County, New York the eldest child of Robert B. Dixon Jr. and Nancy Smith.
She married William Wells Bamford 2 FEB 1860 in LaFargeville, Orleans Township, Jefferson County, New York.

Their children:
Isabella (Bella May) Bamford b. 20 Sep 1861 in Ontario, Canada
Wells William Bamford b. 5 Sep 1865 in Wolfe Island Ontario Canada
James Devolson "Voltie" Bamford b. 20 Nov 1867 in Wolfe Island Ontario Canada
John Dixon Bamford b. 5 Aug 1871 in Wolfe Island Ontario Canada
Grace Darling Bamford b. 9 Apr 1874 in Wolfe Island Ontario Canada

Maude Watson, the daughter of Dr. Watson of Kingston, was raised by the Bamford family after the death of her mother.He remarried in later years.

Edith & Emma Lehman ages 9 & 12 were adopted from an orphanage by the Bamford�s in 1911.

Arthur Knapp came to live with the Bamford�s as a young teenager.

Irene died 4 Mar 1922 on Wolfe Island Ontario Canada
