     Until 31 May 1999, I only knew the Christopher was married to Delila, who previously I didn't know her last name was Wood, from the 1860 census of Tipton Co., Indiana. Sharon Craig, [email protected], sent me an e-mail in response to a lookup request that indicated that Christopher was previously married to Amanda Hoover. Christopher Christian Dellinger was described as 5 feet, 4 inches, brown hair, gray eyes, fair skin. Christopher was born at Virginia circa 1825. He was the son of Frederick Dellinger and Sarah Hudson. He married Amanda Ellen Hoover at Wayne Co., Indiana, in 1852. He married Delila Wood. Christopher was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census at Madison Twp., Tipton Co., Indiana. He was inducted into the military at Wabash, Wabash Co., Indiana, on 22 March 1865. Christopher was drafter and served in Co. A, 53rd Regiment, Indiana Infantry, USA and served under Captain Cowgill. He served with the 53rd in North Carolina during the latter part of the war.. Christopher died on 12 July 1865 at the Union Army Hospital, Louisville, Jefferson Co., Kentucky. He became ill with amoebic dystentery and entered the Union Army hospital in Louisville, Kentucky on July 7, 1865, dying 5 days later.. His body was interred in July 1865 at Louisville, Jefferson Co., Kentucky, at Cave Hill Cemetery. His original grave marker had his family name as "Dillinger." This was corrected by the United States government in 1994. The stone now reads "Dellinger.".

He served in the Army during World War II.

He was a member of Abel-Poff-Leithiser American Legion Post No. 469, Wrightsville.

Born in Wrightsville May 23, 1913, he was a son of the late Paul B. and Clara Gohn Dellinger.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Mary Jane Essig Dellinger; a daughter, Donna M. Craley of Red Lion; two sisters, Dorcas Copley and Velma Whiteleather of Columbia; and a brother, Harry Dellinger of York.

A daughter, Karen B. Dellinger, is deceased.

Viewing is 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Etzweiler Funeral Home, Inc., 700 Hellam St., Wrightsville. The service is at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry L. Lehman, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church, Hallam.

Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Wrightsville.

Clara Ann Dellinger Hannigan, 410 East College avenue, died at 3:00 o'clock yesterday morning in the West Side sanitarium, West York, where she had been a patient for the past month. Death resulted from a broken left hip, suffered by her in a fall down a flight of stairs at her home four weeks ago. She was 69 years old and the widow of U. Grant Hannigan, a member of the York police force, who died November 28, 1935. Mrs. Hannigan leaves the following children: Mrs. I.S. Eaby, Lancaster; Mrs. M.C. Dugan, this place..." the rest of the article is unreadable.
