Russell was born at
Dallastown, York Co., Pennsylvania, on 24 August 1919. He was the son of
McKinley Garfield Dellinger and
Margie E. Hildebrand. Russell Leroy Dellinger died on 24 June 2001 at
Windsor Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania, at age 81. He was New Tag Obituary for a July 12, 2001 York, Pennsylvania newspaper:
"RUSSELL LEROY DELLINGER
Russell LeRoy 'Dick' Dellinger, 81, of Windsor Township, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at his home. He was the husband of Cora Elizabeth Whiteford Dellinger.
Mr. Dellinger was born August 24, 1919, in Spry. He was the son of the late McKinley and Margie E. Hildebrand Dellinger.
He was a sandblaster for New Era Die Co. Inc. where he retired after 17 years of service in 1984. He had previously been employed at Tabacco Nuform. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre under General Patton.
Mr. Dellinger was a member of Red Lion Zion United Methodist Church.
in addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jan LeRoy Dellinger of Red Lion; a sister, Hildred Phillips of Windsor; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Friday, June 29, at the Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Home, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Burial was in Zion United Methodist, Windsor Township with full military honors by the York County Veterans Honor Guard at the cemetery.
