"DIETZ VICTIM OF CARBON MONOXIDE

Well-Known East End Barber Found Dead In His East End Garage

FUNERAL ON MONDAY

Charles H. Dietz, well-known east-end barber, who resided at 853 East Market street, was found dead yesterday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock by his wfie, in his garage on East Clarke avenue, a victim of carbon monoxide poisoning. He was fifty-two years old.

Patrons of the barber shop, which is located at 801 East Market street after waiting for a considerable time for Mr. Dietz to put in his appearance, notified his wife, who in turn found the body.

Dr. L.U. Zech, county coroner, who was summoned and conducted an investigation said last night that he believes that the death was accidental. It is believed that Mr. Dietz during a lull in business yesterday afternoon decided to polish his automobile. He placed a sign in the window of his shop "Will Be Back Soon," and went to the garage.

Wind Blew Door Shut

Neighbors heard the motor on the car running and saw the doors of the garage open, they told the coroner. It is believed that the wind closed the doors and that before Mr. Dietz opened them again he was overcome. Nearly half the body of the automobile was polished when he was found. The motor was still running and the can of polish and rag he was using were on the floor of the garage beside him.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth E. Dietz; a son, Penrose C. Dietz, Baltimore, Md; three daughters, Mrs. Earl H. Burgard, Wilkinsburg, and Miss Viola V. Dietz and Miss Verna M. Dietz, both of York, and the following brothers and sisters: Harry Dietz, Hellam township; Jacob Dietz, Mrs. Aquilla Fauth, Mrs. G.C. Blessing and Mrs. Paul Shutt, all of Hallam, and Mrs. Fannie Dellinger, York.

The body was removed to the funeral home of Edward W. Etzweiler and Son, 732 East Market street, where the funeral will be held on Monday, with services at 2 p.m. Interment will be made in Mt. Zion cemetery. Rev. C.W. Diehl, of this city, will officiate."
