Peter first settled in Reamstown, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania and then moved to York Co. On 5 Jan. 1764 he signed as a member of the Reformed Congregation the Candadochly Union Church Agreement in Windsor Twp. Previously in 1753 he acted as a Reformed Church representative in the securing of a warrant from the Proprietaries for a tract of land for a joint Lutheran and Reformed Church. In 1758 he built a stone house on the banks of the Susquehanna River near Wrightsville, which was standing as of 1988. The home he built on the banks of the Susquehanna River incorporated the thick, arched basement of the old style Swiss stone houses. Its tiny, irregularly shaped windows and the stone ledges between stories on the external walls are typical of Swiss construction. The copper wall plaque gives the date of 1758. Mr. Hegyessy, Jr., researcher of the Tritt family, found entries in the Muddy Creek Reformed Church register near Reamstown concerning Hans Peter Tritt and Christian, his brother (FHL Microfilm 020346). The Swiss Familiennameenbuch (Familiennamen der Schweiz, Eidgennosisches Statistickes Amt., Zurich; Polygraphisches Veriag A.G., 1968) indicates that St. Stephan, Bern Canton, Switzerland was the home of the Tritt family from ancient times. Reference has been found of Dritt's Graveyard, Lower Windsor Twp., York Co. (Register of Wills Office - Christian Dritt burial 1854). This might be where Peter and Maria Barbara were buried. He maybe the "Peter Trett" named as trustee of Canadockly Union Church for whom a warrant for 25 acres was granted, along with Ludwig Meyer, on March 9, 1753. The tract was surveyed on December 1, 1753 and found to contain 13.8 acres and was called "Kerrick Hofh", or "church yard." A Penn agent deed was secured on December 20, 1825 for 20.88 acres (York Deed 3-I-32). This information from "The Manor of Springettsbury," Vol 6, 1993 by Neal Otto Hively. "The Dellinger Family" by Frank L. Crone from "Crone and Allied Families", LDS film 873031, contains Jacob Dellinger's Article of Agreement and Rev. Stoever's Baptismal records for Maria Barbara Tritt.
