Wyatt was named after his father's commanding officer under whom Nicholas Earp served during the Mexican War.
While his father and older brothers were fighting in the Civil War, 13 year old Wyatt was left in charge of bringing in 80 acres of corn, with the help of his younger brothers Morgan and Warren.
Wyatt was born at
Monmouth, Warren Co., Illinois, on 19 March 1848. He was the son of
Nicholas Porter Earp and
Virginia Anne Cooksey. He married
Urilla Sutherland at
Barton Co., Missouri, on 3 January 1870. Wyatt was elected at
Lamar Twp., Barton Co., Missouri, in 1870. He was tried in criminal court in May 1871. He married
Celila Ann "Mattie" Blaylock circa 1878. He married
Josephine Sarah "Sadie" Marcus. Wyatt was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census at
Nome, Alaska. Wyatt was listed as the head of a family on the 1910 Census at
Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California. Wyatt was listed as the head of a family on the 1920 Census at
Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California. Wyatt died on 13 January 1929 at
Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California, at age 80.
