He married Elizabeth R. Hadden at Wilcox Co., Alabama, on 9 January 1827. Hugh died in November 1835 at Wilcox Co., Alabama.

     Hugh Gaston was born in 1687 at Ballymena, Co. Antrim, Ireland. He was the son of John Gaston. Hugh Gaston married Jennet (?) in 1718 at Co. Antrim, Ireland. Hugh Gaston emigrated circa 1720; Hugh emigrated to New Jersey around 1720. It is not known were he originally lived, but it is thought that he might of lived in Bedminster township, as on April 21, 1744, his house is mentioned in the Johnston "Journals" as being in a survey of that date, viz., "at 10 chain Hugh Gaston's house," evidently near corner of Lot No. 7. He was land contract on 10 February 1746 at Mt. Bethel Twp., Bucks Co., Pennsylvania; On 10 Feb. 1746 Hugh purchased land in Mt. Bethel Township, Bucks Co. (now Northampton Co.), Pennsylvania. It is thought that Hugh purchased this land for his son William. He was land contract on 20 June 1751 at Mt. Bethel Twp., Bucks Co., Pennsylvania; Hugh purchased more land in Mt. Bethel Twp. (now Northampton Co.), Pennsylvania on 20 June 1751. This land was likely purchased for one of his sons. He died on 22 December 1772 at Peapack, Somerset Co., New Jersey. He was buried in December 1772 at Lamington Cemetery, Somerset Co., New Jersey.

He died on 24 June 1839 at Columbiana Co., Ohio, at age 75.
