He married Elizabeth R. Gibson, daughter of John H. Gibson and Sarah Rogers, on 31 December 1884 at Lebanon, Linn Co., Oregon. Emanuel Goan died on 8 August 1895 at Lebanon, Linn Co., Oregon, at age 60. He was buried in August 1895 at Masonic Cemetery, Lebanon, Linn Co., Oregon. He was New Tag Obituary from the Lebanon Oregon Express:

"Emanuel Goan was born in Somerset Co., Pennsylvania, emigrated to Illinois in 1854 and from there to California in 1864. He came to this part of Oregon in 1878 where he lived until his death. He leaves a wife and five children to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father." On 16 August 1895 at Lebanon, Linn Co., Oregon.
