Ellenora was born at
Indiana in 1852. She was the daughter of
John Hartley and
Catherine O. Spangler. She married
Jabes B. Leeman at
Hamilton Co., Indiana, on 22 June 1871. Ellenora was listed as
Jabes B. Leeman's wife on the 1880 Census at
White River Twp., Hamilton Co., Indiana. Ellenora died on 18 September 1940 at
Frankton, Madison Co., Indiana. She was New Tag Obituary from the 19 September 1940 Noblesville Daily Ledger:
"DEATH OF MRS. LEEMAN, GOLD STAR MOTHER, EIGHTY EIGHT YEARS OF AGE, LAST MEMBER OF THE WELL KNOWN HARTLEY FAMILY
Mrs. Elenora Leeman, widow of Jabez Leeman, died at her home in Frankton, Wednesday, following an illnesss of six weeks. She was born in Hamilton county 88 years ago last July and was the last member of the well known Hartley family of the northeastern part of the county. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Frankton Christian Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Olive Wade, Patterson, Calif, Mrs. Della Woodruff, Noblesville and Mrs. Jennie French, Mattoon, Illinois. An only son, Harry Leeman, was killed in the World War. There also are living ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
The Harry Leeman American Legion post of Arcadia was named after the son of Mrs. Leeman. He was the first Arcadia boy to lose his life in the World War. He enlisted in the service in 1917 and was among the first American soldiers to go over seras. Many members of the Arcadia post may attend the funeral of Mrs. Leeman." On 19 September 1940 at
