Pipe Creek Twp., Madison Co., Indiana, on 5 October 1871. George was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census at

Frankton, Madison Co., Indiana, at age 76. His body was interred on 9 May 1912 at

George B. Hartley was born Jan 20, 1836 and departed this life May 4, 1912 at the age of 76 yrs, 2 mo, and 16 days. On Aug 14, 1862, he enlisted in the service of his country and was assigned to Company K Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry and for nearly four years, during the most trying time of the Civil War his life was placed on the altar of his country and remained there until June 7, 1865, when he was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to Emily Roach, Oct 5, 1871 and to this union, 11 children, four of whom preceded the father, Edward S., Nora Bell, Blanche, and Chester and seven children, which remain to comfort the the mother are John, Wade, Floyd, Wayne, Jerome, and Mrs. Katie Fesler and Mrs. Grace Waymire. Bro. Hartley has been a member of the Methodist Church for nearly forty years---- Survivors include; wife, seven children, three brothers and three sisters, eleven grandchildren on 16 May 1912 at
Elwood, Tipton Co., Indiana.
