On page 442 of this book, Wayland refers to a Benjamin Hudson as the the donor of the land for the Reformed Church at Hudson Cross Roads. Is that Benjamin related to the Benjamin Hudson, son of Thomas Hudson, who would have been 49 years old at the time?
In Thomas Hudson's family Bible, it is reportably stated that Thomas' father was Richard Hudson. There was a Richard Hudson in the 1783 census for Shenandoah Co., head of household with 8 whites.
Thomas was born at
Virginia on 20 November 1763. He married
Dorothy Helsley at
Shenandoah Co., Virginia, on 31 August 1784. Thomas registered to pay taxes at
Shenandoah Co., Virginia, in 1787. Thomas died on 11 March 1843 at
Shenandoah Co., Virginia, at age 79. His body was interred in March 1843 at
Conicville, Shenandoah Co., Virginia. Thomas' tombstone is inscribed with the following statement:
"He was a Soldier in the Revolution of 1776".
