John was born at
Frederick Co., Virginia, on 10 January 1750. He was the son of
Jurig Martin Lohmuller and
Catharina (?). John Loughmiller began military service at
Shenandoah Co., Virginia. He married
Elizabeth Rohr at
Shenandoah Co., Virginia, on 9 October 1773. He married
Sabina Shew at
Shenandoah Co., Virginia, on 31 May 1782. John died on 11 August 1814 at
Hawkins Co., Tennessee, at age 64. He left a will on 11 August 1814 at

In the name of God Amen. I, John Loughmiller of Hawkins County & State of Tennessee, being weak in body but in sound memory & perfect mind, thanks be to Almighty God, and calling to mind the mortality of the body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament.
First - I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a christian like manner by my executors, and my worldly estate in the manner following to wit: After paying all my just debts I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Savana Loughmiller two cows and a roam mare with one bed & furniture. Also the pewter she had when I was married to her. It is also my desire my wife Savana should have one third of all the grain & hay raised on the cleared land which I have cleared and pasture for the two cows and mare above mentioned and in case my wife Savana should get married again, the above item to cease and she is to live on my present place of residence during her live unmolested, in case she does not marry, there is also a pot-rack, one iron pot & a coffe mill my wife had when I was married to her which I wish her to retain also one walnut chest.
It is my desire that all my personal estate be sold at public vendue, such as horses, cattle, sheep, farming utensils & shop tools of every kind & grain & hay excepted which is to be retained for the use of the family & stock, the monies arising therefrom to be applied to the payment of a debt which I owe my brother Jonas Loughmiller.
It is my desire that my daughter Elizabeth Lutholtz have sixty seven dollars cash to be paid by my Executors in the following manner one half in twelve months after my death, the other half in two years after my death, I also desire that my sons Jacob Loughmiller & George Loughmiller have paid them the same sums paid each of them in cash that is paid my daughter Elizabeth Lutholtz and in the same manner, my son Jacob Loughmiller is to have a horse beast to be worth thirty dollars exclusive of the above named legacy in cash.
My landed estate I wish equally divided between my sons to wit:
My son John Loughmiller to hold the place where he now lives, Jonas Loughmiller to hold the place where he now lives which place is to be equally divided with the fifty acre adjoining the same between the said Jonas Loughmiller and Frederick Loughmiller. Henry Loughmiller the place where I now reside is to be equally divided between my sons David Loughmiller, Abram Loughmiller & Phillip Loughmiller, and when divided David is to have the place where the buildings now stand.
All of which land is to be valued by persons chosen by all of my sons above mentione and should any one tract be more valuable than the rest, the ones holding such tracts of land shall pay to my Executors a sum of money to make all lots equal which I wish paid to ones least valuable.
It is my desire that my seven sons above mentioned who holds my landed estate should pay my daughter Sarah Loughmiller the amount that will be equal to what the average lot land will be valued at. It is also my desire that my sons Jonas Loughmiller and Frederick Loughmiller by by Executors to this my last Will and Testament signed, sealed & acknowledged, in the presence of the following witnesses, This 11th day of August 1814.
