Russell E. Markley was born on 2 June 1912 at
North Dakota. He was the son of
William David Markley and
Nellie Francis Miller. Russell E. Markley died in March 1985 at
Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., West Virginia, at age 72. He was New Tag Obituary from an undated newspaper:
"MARKLEY, RUSSELL E., 72, of Rt. 2, Hedgesville, died Saturday morning at the VA Medical Center.
Born June 2, 1912, in North Dakota, he was the son of the late William David and Nellie Frances Miller Markley.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a mail handler in Martinsburg, Paw Paw and Burkharts Contract mail carriers. He was a member of Newton D. Baker Post 896, VFW and Martinsburg Lodge No. 120, Loyal Order of Moose.
Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Miller, Rt. 2, Hedgesville; Deborah Browning, Rt. 2, Kearneysville; and Bonnie Tasker, Rt. 3, Martinsburg; a son, Douglas Lee Markley, Rt. 2, Hedgesville; 13 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; three sisters, Civie Walker, Rt. 3, Martinsburg; Lillie Markley, Edinburg, Va; and Ettie Fellers, Charles Town; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Murphy.
Services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. from the Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Don Smith officiating. Burial in Pleasant View Memory Gardens with military graveside by Newton D. Baker Post 896, VFW.
Martinsburg Lodge 120 will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 tonight in the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7-9."
