Is this yet another child of John and Letitia? If so what are the birth and death dates? And where does he fit into the order? This James S. isn't listed in either of the 1850 or 1860 censuses, and there is another son named James Eskine, who was born about 1845, so this James S. is likely born and died prior to 1845. John was born at Chester Co., South Carolina, on 13 August 1799. He was the son of Samuel Moffett and Mary Margaret "Polly" Curry. He married Letitia Margaret Strong at Chester Co., South Carolina, in 1825. He migrated in 1835. In 1835 John moved his family from Chester Co., South Carolina to Monroe Co., Indiana.. He bought property at Monroe Co., Indiana, on 13 June 1838. He bought property at Monroe Co., Indiana, in September 1838. John M. Moffatt was census 1840 in 1840 at Monroe Co., Indiana; The following family is found in the 1840 Monroe Co., Indiana census with John Moffitt listed as the head of household:

John was born at Anderson, Lauderdale Co., Alabama, on 19 February 1850. He was the son of Samuel Moffatt and Eleanor Jane Hubbard. He married Annetta Sophrona "Nettie" McCalla at Rosemark, Shelby Co., Tennessee, on 17 December 1874. He married Mary Belle Jones on 8 October 1889. John died on 12 August 1923 at Rosemark, Shelby Co., Tennessee, at age 73. His body was interred in December 1923 at Rosemark, Shelby Co., Tennessee, at Rosemark Cemetery.
