Charles was born in 1926. He was the son of
Howard Fellows Otstot and
Christina Hunter Mathieson. Charles is retired from a career with the CIA as an economist studying China. He also served in the Army Reserve and retired as a Colonel.
Charles wrote a comprehensive book of the Otstot family history in the 1970s, since then it has been updated 3 or 4 times. This history, which is available through the LDS libraries, shows the inter-relationships between the several neighboring families: Otstot, Dellinger, Keller, Paff, Lieberknechts and others in York Co., Pennsylvania.
Charles is the Clan Genealogist for the Clan Matheson Society, and he is also Vice President of the Palatines to America, a genealogical society specializing in Palatine immigration. He is also Secretary of a Kiwanis service club and a Deacon in the Rock Spring Congregational United Church of Christ.
He resided at
Arlington, Arlington Co., Virginia, in 1999. Charles Mathieson Otstot died on 25 December 2001.
