Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana, on 7 January 1916. She was the daughter of
James Patton and
Alta Hood. She married
Everette Leo Baynes at
Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana, on 11 June 1940. Agnes Pauline Patton died on 27 January 2007 at

Pauline Patton Baynes 91, Plainfield, passed away January 27, 2007. She was born January 7, 1916 to the late James and Alta (Hood) Patton in Bloomington, IN. She received her Bachelor and Masters degree from Indiana University. She started her teaching career at Stinesville High School. She was a substitute teacher at Plainfield High School for five years. At Avon Community Schools she taught fourth grade for 10 years retiring in 1978. Her memberships include the Clayton Presbyterian Church, Womans Club of which she was past president , Guilford Twp. Historical Society, and past president of AAUW. Among her many achievements, Pauline and her husband were instumental in raising funds for the Community Center at Hummel Park. She co-authored the book, Facts of Aging Structures of Plainfield, and had a column at the Plainfield Messenger and the Hendricks County Flyer. She was also awarded Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America in 1974. She was always active in the church, having taught Sunday School classes at Plainfield United Methodist Church, and the Plainfield Christian Church. She is survived by three sons, Jack (Debbie), James (Connie), and Jerre (Delma) Baynes; a daughter, Janet Percifield; two brothers, Harry and William Patton; two sisters, Katherine Sinn, and Velma Apple; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette L. Baynes; twin daughters, Karen and Sharon Baynes; granddaughter, Sarah Baynes; and daughter-in-law Debra Baynes. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday January 30. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clayton Presbyterian Church.
