Pop-up Pedigree Virginia was born at
Clark Co., Ohio, on 19 December 1850. She was the daughter of
Joseph P. Rakestraw and
Isabel Dougherty. She married
John Wesley Shigley at
Greene Co., Ohio, on 9 September 1869. Virginia died on 9 August 1890 at
Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana, at age 39. Her body was interred in August 1890 at
Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana, at Rose Hill Cemetery. Clipping from the Bloomington Telephone, Tuesday August 12, 1890.
"Mrs. J.W. Shigley, living east of town, was buried from the Methodist church Sunday afternoon. Rev. W.R. Halstead having charge of the ceremonies. Mrs. Shigley died in her 39th year, and was a true christian woman, and though she had only been a resident of Monroe county for a short time, she won the admiration and respect of all who knew her.".
