According to J. Newton Rinker's obituary, his parents were Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Rinker, both deceased. He was raised by John and Sarah Pennywitt.

     According to Amy Gilreath, Jacob Rinker is the son of Johann Georg Rinker and his first wife Mary Catherine Cauffman/Coffman. Amy also believes that Jacob's wife, Magdalene is the daughter of Christian and Magdalena Dellinger, who I show as being the grandparents of Magdalena. Jacob was born at Shenandoah Co., Virginia, in 1779. He was the son of Johann Georg Rinker and Mary Catherine Negley. He married Magdalene Dellinger on 13 October 1800.

Colonel Jacob Rinker married Mary Keller, daughter of Hans George Keller and Barbara Anna Hottel, on 2 May 1772. Colonel Jacob Rinker died on 18 January 1827 at age 77. He was buried in January 1827 at Rinker Family Cemetery, Virginia.
